About this painting: Thousands of islands dot the Gulf of Mexico south of Naples Florida all the way down to Marco Island and onward to the Keys. These little Islands are formed when young Mangrove Trees get a toehold in the shallows and sandbars. Eventually as they grow the Mangroves trap debris, and a cycle begins until another Mangrove Island is created. The Mangrove Islands become a habitat for birds, dolphins, manatees, fish, crustaceans and gators. |
