| About this painting: I painted a small study of "Wialea Outlook" in the town of Wialea, Maui one beautiful day in February. The island visible to the left, is Kahoolawe. As I was painting, I observed many Humpback whales and their calves playing and spouting. When I brought the color study and reference photos home to my studio to paint the large canvas, I was able to recall the warm tropical sun on my back and the painting just came together. What a joy to paint and recall that magnificent day in Wialea. |
