| About this painting: I was inspired to begin work on the first of my large parrot paintings (almost 4' x 5') one beautiful spring day. Our much loved Cockatoo Tiki was daydreaming on her terrace stand. The late morning sun was striking Tiki from the back, but there was also a bounce of light from the golden floor, that illuminated the front of her. The sun playing on Tiki was so incredible I took several dozen photos. From those, I selected two poses that most reflected her beauty and moods. the most important goal was to capture the sun glowing through her feathers. This painting was so successful that I immediately began a series of large parrot paintings. |
