| About this painting: 'Mama Scarlet' is one in a group of pastel paintings I created when I returned from a trip to South America. I visited a wonderful sanctuary that had all types of parrots and toucans freely walking and climbing about on trees and gyms. Their flight wings were clipped so they could only flutter down and then have to climb back up. The Parrots in this painting are a Scarlet Macaw and her chicks. The nest box was mounted high in a tree and you can see the chicks who by now have many of their feathers.
